This looks and feels like something you might find at mountain cabin attached to a tree and which would make you wonder what they use it for until you are shown.
What it does is use mechanical advantage and a sawtooth base which accommodates various length of wood to easily turn cut wood into kindling. It's made of heavy steel and the lever is adjustable to give you the advantage you need.
While it takes some effort to use, it is a nice addition to the area by your wood pile and is great for taking chopped cord wood and splitting it further into kindling.
